Raised in England/South Africa, Studied acting first at one of the world’s leading conservatoires and drama schools “The Guildhall School of Music and Drama” under David Ciano.
During this time already Kruger acted and appeared in a number of UK TV series and soaps and featured in films such as “Millions” (directed by Danny Boyle) playing a thief, in “O Jerusalem” as an American-Jewish extremist and small cameo in the hit TV series “Shameless” starring James McAvoy.
In 2008 Kruger decided to move to South Africa to pursue his acting and directing and got himself a part in the film “Doomsday” directed by Neil Marshall starring Bob Hoskins. During his stay in Cape Town Over the years Kruger has become a respected director in South Africa for music videos and is one of the top music video directors in the country. He has acted in many international feature films and TV series mainly for the UK and American audiences and commercials for Europe.Then in 2011 in a British TV series “The Runaway” (starring Alan Cumming) as a cockney stage manager.
In 2013 he landed a part in the BBC’s comedy show “Bluestone 42” as Biffa, a Liverpool scouser chef in the army which was set in Afghanistan. In 2014 he played in Sacha Baron Cohens film “Grimsby” as one of his English northerner football hooligan friends. Directed by Louis Leterrier also staring Mark Strong.
In 2016 “Last Broken Darkness”. Kruger is supporting the leads with two completely different characters in the movie Ghost/Lone Man the film set in the far broken down future.
2017 Kruger has just started in a new HBO series “Warrior” playing a Irish barman, Set against the backdrop of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the aftermath of the Civil War, Which originally came from storys written by Bruce Lee, Warrior tells the story of a young martial arts prodigy, newly arrived from China, who finds himself caught up in the bloody Chinatown Tong wars.
Kruger also began shooting a 8 year Experimental Short collection. Which was born out of total frustration and depression, where at the time he was going through a dark period and not being able to shoot his style. The collection went out to play many big genre festivals around the world and picked up awards.
His debut feature film, FRIED BARRY, was released in 2021 as a Shudder Original (AMC). Soldf to over 75 territories around the world. The reception has been nothing short of explosive, earning a cult status, with over 25 awards at film festivals and attaining a ‘ Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes and achieving viral fame in the US after hitting the hit Tv show Joe Bob Briggs The Last Drive In: Kruger is a rising star in genre film. Fried Barry had 6 nominations including Best Film and Director at the 16th South African Film & Television Awards (SAFTAS)
2024 His 2nd film “STREET TRASH” was shot on 35mm film set in Cape Town and was a loose sequel to the 1987 New York film with the same name. Street Trash had its world premier at Quentin Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema in LA and its UK premier at the prestiges Prince Charles cinema in London. Then hitting The international film festival Rotterdam.
2025 He recently acted in “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die” Playing Greg in the Diner directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Sam Rockwell, Michael Pena, and Zazi Beetz.
